Lee Alice "Nancy" Harris (Collins), 65, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at the Elkhart General Hospital on Monday January 15, 2024. Lee was born on February 25, 1958, in Tunica, Mississippi, to the late Robert Thomas and Claudy Mae Jones, she was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend.
On September 20, 1986, Lee was united in marriage to James (Jimmie) Harris in Elkhart IN, where they built a life filled with love and devotion. She is survived by her husband James Harris; (daughters)Brittany Harris of Elkhart, IN, and Sonya Harris of Gary, IN; sons Barry (Carlette) Harris of Victorville, CA, and Reginald (Reggie) Harris of Phoenix, AZ. Lee is also survived by her; (sisters) Virginia (Frank) McPherson of Indianapolis IN ,Emma Kyle of Elkhart IN, Elaine Thomas, and Evette (Marvin)Thomas of Saint Louis Mo; (brothers) Larry Thomas of Virginia, Jeffery Thomas, Jerome Thomas, Randy Thomas, all of Saint Louis Mo, and Terrance Jones of Elkhart IN; along with one uncle a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a devoted brother in law Clinton (Kim) Harris.
Lee was a 1976 graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School. Lee also was a dedicated employee of the Elkhart Post Office, serving the community as a rural carrier for thirty years.
Lee was a founding member of AGAPE Missionary Baptist Church in Elkhart, where she joyfully greeted congregants and sang in the choir. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her actions and her unwavering spirit.
An avid bowler, shopper, and dancer, Lee found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially reading the Bible and cherishing moments with her family, who will remember her as a beacon of kindness and generosity.
Arrangements for Lee Alice Harris are entrusted to Cobb Funeral Home, South Bend, IN 46614. Her life will be celebrated in a private ceremony at Agape Missionary Baptist Church at Noon on Saturday January 27 2024 in Elkhart IN, where family and friends can honor her memory and the profound impact she had on their lives. Lee's legacy of warmth, charity, and love will endure through those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be profoundly missed.
