Vinnie Roundtree, 73, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on February 8, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born to Samuel and Adis Roundtree on October 20, 1950. Vinnie graduated from Lincoln High School (Jersey City, New Jersey) and received a World History degree from Rutgers University. During his time at Rutgers, Vinnie was a standout player and played alongside Rutgers’ standout players like Eddie Jordan and Phil Sellars while being coached by Tom Young and Dick Vitale.
Vinnie enjoyed riding his bicycle all over Elkhart during the warm weather months. He watched sports in his spare time, rooting for his favorite teams. One of his main purposes was attending his grandchildren's extracurricular activities and events when he could. Vinnie enjoyed tracking family history and members through social media while connecting with them. Vinnie loved to chat with anyone who was willing to sit down and talk. He also enjoyed helping those in need and was quick to put a smile on a stranger's face.
Vinnie was a devoted member of New Vision of Life Church which was important to him. He attended Bible study, the senior ministry, church events, and was a faithful member of worship on Sundays. Vinnie was known to witness to others about God and encouraged anybody to attend New Vision of Life Church. Before Vinnie made his journey to the Heavenly skies on February 6, 2024, at approximately 7:42 pm, he was baptized in his home by Pastor Pace of New Vision of Life Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories and survives him, most importantly the love of his life, Halcyone who he married in 2019. Vinnie also is survived and cherished by his five children, Lisa Holley, Tanya Joy Roundtree, Josh Roundtree, Brandan (Julia) Roundtree, and Makayla Roundtree. Stepchildren Marvin (Gloria) Pace Sr., Matt (Karen) Allen, Ardemus Allen and Tracy Williams. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of inherited grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
