CLEOFIS SUGGS
“SHORT LIFE, LONG MEMORIES”
Cleofis “Cleo” Suggs, 52 peacefully passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Cleo was born in Elkhart, IN on September 8, 1967 to Calvin Johnson and Mary Suggs Brown.
Cleo relocated to Indianapolis, IN in 2001 to further his career goals. While in Indianapolis, he discovered his passion for truck driving, and began working at United Hospital Services. In April of 2019, he was diagnosed with Stage IV Renal Kidney Cancer, and moved back to his hometown to be closer to family and loved ones.
Cleo was a hard-working man who was full of life and charisma. He could brighten any day with his warming smile and joyful laugh. Cleo loved fishing, playing cards, listening to music, hanging with family and friends, and cars. He always made sure that his car was extra clean. Any car he has ever owned shined bright like his smile.
Cleo will be forever missed by his two brothers: Calvin Suggs and Kelvin Thomas; sister: Anita (Michael) Hawkins; five daughters: Aviance, Dominique, Kourtney, Kayla, and Cleomy Suggs; two sons: DeAndre Peoples and Trevor Johnson; three stepchildren: Bri’Nae Williams, Ko’Ree Pruitt, and Randall Dean; two nieces: Mikiea and Anequia Hawkins; two nephews: Michael Hawkins, Jr. and Kyrus Williams; fiancé: Melissa Purdiman; and a host of family and friends.
Cleo was preceded in death by his father: Calvin Johnson; paternal grandparents: Cleophus and Alma Johnson; maternal grandparents Thad Flowers and Luddie Mae Suggs; and sister: Trece Lott.
Cleo’s time on earth was short, but he would want us to uplift one another in this time of sorrow. He is no longer experiencing any pain caused by his illness. He has been set free.
