Kenneth Blount departed this life peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018 in his residence, in South Bend, Indiana.
Kenny was a faithful member and servant at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church; where he served as a child in the Children’s Choir, and on the Junior Usher’s Board. Kenny continued his service as an adult, as he was the Director and sung with the Spiritual Voices, Gospel Choir, Mass choir, and District choir; his services extended to performing duties in the sound room and during Vacation Bible School.
Kenny Graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for four years. Kenny received an honorable discharged and continued his government service at the United States Post Office from which he recently retired on April 28, 2017 after 50 years of service. Kenny was honored by the South Bend Tribune for his 50 years of government service.
Kenny was loved and cherished by many as he participated on church bowling and softball leagues and was the championship coach for female softball team.
Kenny’s love for gospel music will serenade many hearts as he leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Shirley, one son Kenneth Blount and step-son Greg Tate. He was a father figure to Vanessa Gwen and Ronnie. A sister, Vicki Blount, one brother, George Blount Jr. and 7 grandchildren, all of South Bend, Indiana also survive him along with a host of other family members and friends. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents George and Helen Blount and brothers Dennis and Russell Blount.
