Lula Bell West

Lula Bell (Long) West, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, formally of 126 E. Dubail passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, May 10, 2018.

Lula was born in Blytheville, AK to Jacob and Hester (Fisher) Long, Sr. In 1964 Lula married John T. West, Sr., from their union they had 8 children.

Lula was a devoted Jehovah Witness and emphasized her Christian value to her children and grandchildren.

Lula was a very passionate and loving woman which she showed in her career as a certified nursing assistant and personal care provider for many years. Lula’s nurturing spirit overflowed into her community opening doors to anyone in need. In 1980, Lula received the “Mother of the year” award from the Southeast Side Neighborhood Center. Her strength and love for her family was unconditional.

Lula leaves to cherish her memory her husband; John T. West, Sr., sons: Craig (Kathy) West, John T. West, Jr., Jason West, stepson: Robert Allen Williams, special sons: Earl Mosby, Maurice Ottbridge, Sr., Robert Anderson, Robert Strickler. Daughters: Deborah West, Charlotte Ottbridge, Shannon (Marcus) Jackson, stepdaughter: Tomeka Ford, special daughters: Yvette West, Tonya Hawkins.

Sisters: Laura Gray, Billie (Joseph) Wesley, Mable Long, Jeannette Long Brothers: John Ellis Green, Thomas (Marsha) Long, Robert Long. 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren,a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Grandchildren: Jakayla Cleveland, India Ford, Charisse Ottbridge, Sedelle Blue, Justin West, Dyrisha Ottbridge, Tracina (Eric) Fikes, Maurice Ottbridge, Jr., LaQuita West (Rob) Hogan, Ashley (Adika) Macon, Sabryna West, LaToya West, Sierra Seibert, Jasonna West, JaNae West, Latavia (Antwan) Howard, Shaquil Johnson, Lovelle Hawkins, Shanice Hawkins, Alexis Ford, Mark West, Jr., Shaleta West, Brittany West.

She was proceeded in death by her parents: Jacob and Hester Long, Sr., Son: Mark West, Sr., daughter: Dianna Fultz, special daughter: Patricia Bradley, Great grandchildrens: Nicole West, D’Won Macon, Robert Cole, Jr., Mother-in-law: Annie Mae Fowler, Brother: Jacob Long, Jr., George Long, Sisters: Sarah Long, Dottie Long In-Laws: Reverend Booker and Geneva West, Sr., Laura and Woodrow McDonald, Sr., Arthur West, Inobia Baker. Special relatives and friends: Evelyn Coppage, Norma Coppage-Williams, Bridget West-Chambliss, Booker West Jr., Rose West, Mrs. Alice Swanson, Willie Joe Shaffer.
