Queen Ester Hamilton, 80, of Virginia St, South Bend, IN died peacefully in her sleep at Memorial Hospital, ICU on Sunday, October 8, 2017 after a brief illness. Mom was born February 15, 1937 to Bertha Lee Baker and Albert Johnson in Greenville, MS. Mom moved to Saginaw, MI and from there to South Bend, IN in 1953. Queen married Robert Hamilton in 1956. She worked at Memorial Hospital as head cashier for 33 years until she retired. Mom loved reading, music, cooking, dancing, helping people in the neighborhood, styling hair, Avon and she loved shopping!
Surviving her are children, Linda L. Johnson Thomas, Pamela K. Dozier, Jan D. Jenkins (Melvin), Michael D. Hamilton, Sondia T. Hamilton, and Michelle Hamilton; siblings Rosetta Corbitt, Jerrie Crocker, Renee (Anton) Breveard John Johnson, and George Johnson. 14 grandchildren Demetrius Erby (Monica), Sarita Ward (Gary), Siglenda Dozier, Mikol Dozier, Marques Ivey (Stacey), Shevlin Thomas, Melvin Jenkins, Jr, Nicholas Jenkins, Shonda Hamilton, Lanette Hamilton-Sanders (Nate),
Michael Hamilton, Jr, Ayriel Hamilton, Travis Hamilton, Brandon Bridges, and 19 great-grandchildren Quezdon Ivey, Andalaysia Ivey, Kaiyan Ivey, King Daniel, Maleena Erby, Payton Erby, Amere Dozier, Angel Winston, Quintin White, Chyanne Ward, Shamaya Ward, Shaniya Ward, Dai`john Hill, Da`Viyah Poindexter, Dandelo Jenkins, Na`quan Sanders, Tamia Hamilton, Serenity Sanders, and Jazmyn Bridges also survive her along with a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and son, Robert E. Hamilton, Jr. and siblings Douglas Johnson and Maylee Johnson.
