Robert Lynn Reed, 59 was born to the union of the late Clyde and Irena M. Bolton Reed on January 6, 1959 in South Bend, Indiana. He departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, September 7, 2018 in his home.
Robert received his formal education in the South Bend Community School Corporation afterward serving in the United States Army until receiving an honorable discharge. Robert was last employed at the former Downtown South Bend Summit Club which was the ideal job for him as he was a master host with a huge heart. Never one to meet a stranger, he could conversate with anyone of any caliber and leave them feeling they’ve known him a lifetime. He delighted in displaying his exceptional culinary skills; opening his home for everyone to dine. Robert was an avid and successful fisherman. He was blessed to enjoy it until life’s end. He utilized his fishing skill both as a business and ministry. For as many fish as he would sell, he would also bless sick and shut-ins in nursing homes with dinners from his catch.
Robert was a member of Rhema Word International Outreach Ministries where he recently began the groundwork to establish its Community Food Pantry as was inspired by his dedicated service with the Granger Community Pantry. Rhema’s Food Pantry will be named in his honor.
Robert’s infectious smile, roaring voice and humoring personality will be missed by many. His very presence could light up a room.
