Barbara A. Deal

Barbara Ann Deal, 91 of South Bend, Indiana was born on born May 23, 1928, in Washington, Indiana. She was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Nola Jewell Umbles.  She was the eldest of two daughters, her sister Emily Jane Wills preceded her in death. 

On June 16, 1947, in Washington, Indiana she married Leslie A. Deal who also preceded her in death.  Barbara is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Betty Ann Reeves and Mrs. Nola Jane Howell both of South Bend, Indiana, Mrs. Cynthia M. Crockerham of Flint, Michigan, and Mrs. Carlett M. Booth of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, a cousin Mr. Paul Lewis of Hamond, Indiana, and friends.

Barbara worked at CTS Corporation in Elkhart, Indiana until she retired at the age of 70 years of age.  She was a member of Olivet AME Church in South Bend, Indiana for many years.   Upon her death, she resided in Indianapolis, Indiana where she died after an extended illness peacefully in her sleep on May 4th, 2020.
