Betty Jean Broadnax

Betty Jean Broadnax was born October 24, 1949 in South Bend Indiana to George & Jessie Lee Broadnax.

She passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the age of 66.

Betty was a lifelong South Bend resident. She attended South Bend Community Schools and was employed with Notre Dame University from 1973 until her retirement in 2008.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory a son, Christopher (Alexis) Broadnax Sr.; mother Jessie L Broadnax, sisters Carol Washington, Ora Gordon and Jessica Broadnax. Ten grandchildren, Armondo Perez, Christopher Jr., Enricque, Tahleb, Zavieon, Christian, Christyna & Chrisi Broadnax, Devin Crawford and Kavon Jett also survive her along with an Aunt, JoAnn Newhouse, an Uncle, Willie Washington and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Her father George Broadnax, daughter Kecia Broadnax a sister, Mary Jo Broadnax and grandparents, James and Viola Washington preceded her in death along with an aunt and uncle Ora and Willie Broadnax.

Betty loved to cook many different dishes but especially those chicken and dumplings!

She was truly a people person and she enjoyed her “second family” at Notre Dame.

Betty will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
