Cleveland Jackson Obituary

Cleveland Earl Jackson (71) of Elkhart made his transition at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Cleveland was born on May 16, 1950, in Covington, Tennessee to Herman and Mae Ruby (Malone) Jackson.  Cleveland was the third child of nine children.  The family relocated to Elkhart when Clee (as he was affectionately called) was young.  He attended Pierre Moran Junior High School and graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1970.

Cleveland worked at the Elkhart Hotel and later at Dexter Axle where he was a faithful employee for thirty-five years until he retired.

Cleveland loved the Lord and the Word of the Lord.  He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Atoka, Tennessee and after visiting many churches he put his membership in at Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor McNeal Stewart where was a loyal and faithful member.

Cleveland loved his family and was a devout Christian who shared everything he had with others. He was also a single Father and raised his sons (DeWayne and Maurice) with loving care and devotion from early childhood until they were adults.  Clee loved sports and he attended all the games of his nieces and nephews as well as neighboring children. He was quite spirited and walked softly.  He lived with his mother until her demise, and they spent many hours watching the games and cheering the players on.  Clee would also gather vegetables and gave them to the neighbors.  He was a kind and giving person!

He is survived by two sons: DeWayne Jackson and Maurice Jackson of Detroit, Michigan, he also leaves to cherish loving memories, three brothers: James A. (Mae Lois) Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Herman Jackson, Jr. of Mason, Tennessee and Warner Jackson of Elkhart, IN, three sisters: Joyce Burton, Sandra (Jerry) Conard and Arnita Michelle (Jackson) Vaughn all of Elkhart, IN,  He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles and friends. Cleveland was predeceased by his parents, one daughter: Elaine Jackson, brother: Clifford (Toby) Jackson and sister: Barbara Jackson.
