Elline Sue (Anderson) Bird

Mrs. Elline Sue Bird, 80 of South Bend, Indiana completed her earthly assignment on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at her home.

Elline was born July 24, 1934 in Metter, Georgia to the union of Major and Rodie Anderson of Trenton, NJ.

It was in Metter, Georgia that Elline met and married Kenneth Martin Bird. Together, they relocated to South Bend. Here, Elline worked in the home caring for their 12 children while Kenneth worked at Studebaker Corp. They were great providers for their children, teaching them the values of respect and hard work ethics. Elline could say with pride that not one of her children ever talked back to her.

A kind, loving and devoted lover of life and family, Elline cherished the time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a giver; giving first of herself to God and her family.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Elline leaves to forever cherish her memory, her sons; Jerone (Pamela) Mincey of Albuquerque, NM, Marcell Bird, San Diego, CA, Arthur ”Perry” Bird, Maurice Bird, Anthony (Izola) Bird, Reginald Bird and Kenneth Bird, all of South Bend, IN and daughters, Linda Love of Trenton, NJ, Rose Mary (John) Anderson and Carrie (Mark) Burks of South Bend. Thirty grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren also survive her along with other relative and friends who will miss her dearly.
