OBITUARY OF SISTER FELICIA DELORIS BARNETT
Felicia Deloris Barnett was born on April 16, 1933, in Huntingdon, Tennessee, to the late Fannie and McMillian Douglas. She was the youngest of their beloved children: Eloise, Andrew, and Edward. After graduating from high school, Felicia married her childhood sweetheart, the late James Wilbur Barnett, on March 5, 1950.
Their union was blessed with two children, Stephen Lewis and Constance Lynn, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, the matriarch of a family that she nurtured with unwavering love and faith.
Felicia worked diligently throughout her life, serving with excellence and dedication at Stephenson Designer Store, Continental Can, and CTS Corporation, where she later retired. Her strong work ethic, quiet grace, and commitment to integrity earned her the respect of all who knew her.
A woman of deep faith, Felicia loved the Lord and maintained a steadfast relationship with Him through daily Bible study and prayer. She found joy in the ministry of music, especially the choirs of Jimmy Swaggart, and she delighted in attending church services, where she could fellowship with her church family and praise God for His goodness. Felicia was a founding member of Agape Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and stood as an example of steadfast devotion. She remained active in the ministry throughout her life and, at the time of her passing, was recognized as the oldest member of the congregation. Her love for the Word of God and her generous spirit were evident in every aspect of her life.
Outside of work and worship, Felicia took great pride in her home and her garden, often surrounded by her favorite flowers–Geraniums and Begonias–which she tended with the same care and tenderness she gave her loved ones. A gifted cook, her kitchen was a place of warmth and welcome, where family and friends gathered to share laughter, stories, and the comfort of her delicious meals. She also loved journaling, filling pages with reflections, prayers, and the wisdom of her years, a quiet testament to a thoughtful and faithful spirit.
She enjoyed reading, shopping, and most of all, the company of family and friends who loved to visit “Miss Felicia,” as she was affectionately known. To know Felicia was to know kindness, grace, and a quiet strength that guided generations. Her gentle spirit, contagious laughter, and unwavering love will live on through all those whose lives she touched.
Felicia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Barnett; her parents, Fannie and McMillian Douglas, and her siblings, Eloise, Andrew, and Edward. She is survived by a son, Stephen, and a daughter, Constance (Connie). She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Robyn McFarland, Brandon and Felicia Dawson, Megan and Pierce Barnett; five treasured great-grandchildren: Odell and Zahrya McFarland, Jaylin and Jrue Dawson, and Cydnie Dawson; sister-in-law Margaret Branscomb (Barnett); special cousin Horace (Marjorie) Barnett and former son-in-law, Arvis L. Dawson. Survivors also include a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She has fought the good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith. Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice knowing she is now at peace and resting in the arms of her Savior.
