Mr. Floyd Everett Boykin 89 gained his wings on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at his home in Elkhart, Indiana. His loving family was by his side. Floyd was born in Brighton, Tennessee on September 3, 1933, to the union of Charlie and Mamie Robinson-Boykin.
Floyd served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. On November 24, 1977, in Elkhart he was united in marriage to Elnora Owens Boykin. He was employed by Whitehall Systems for 40 years; he then went to work for the State of Indiana as a Road Clerk for 10 years until he retired.
In the 1960’s Floyd served as the President of the Elkhart Chapter of NAACP. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching westerns and the Price and Right. He also enjoyed listening to the blues.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Dieter Owens, Cary Miller and Brian Miller, all of Elkhart; his grandchildren, Octavia (David) Doyle, Clifton (Latassia) Miller, Sr., and Tiara Miller, all of Elkhart; Felicia (Jerry) Hochstetler of Cromwell, Indiana, Marquita (Craig) Tackett of Ohio, Paul and Legacy Miller of Arlington, Texas; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Willie Edwards, Sr. of Elkhart; two sisters, Charlean Alston of Missouri City, Texas and Gerldine (Earnest) Braggs of Los Angeles, California along with host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter Freida S. Edwards; two brothers, Rudolph Boykin, Sr., and Hurschel Boykin and three sisters, Bettie Calhoun, Helen Coleman and Ollie Edmonds.
Floyd was a man with a big heart and loving smile. His love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
