Frank Sherman Laster

Frank Sherman Laster Jr., passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017  at Memorial Hospital.

Frank was born on January 6, 1935, to the union of Frank Laster Sr. and Lucy Laster Marshall in Gary Indiana.

Frank graduated from Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana. Frank served in the United States Army and after an honorable discharge moved to South Bend, Indiana. He was employed at Studebaker Corporation and worked there until its closing.

On July 16, 1960 Frank wed Gwendolyn Patricia Shannon. In 1964 they relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Frank was employed by Navistar Company in Melrose, Illinois and retired in 1998. After retiring Frank and Gwendolyn moved back to South Bend, Indiana.

Frank has left to mourn his wife of 56 years, Gwendolyn. He is survived by two sisters Ann Laster Tigler (Randolph) of Ohio and Annette Laster-McGovern of Indiana. Four sisters-in-law, Barbara Laster of Texas, Regina Laster of Maryland, Tanya Laster of Minnesota and Brenda Gammage (Carl) of Georgia. One brother-in-law Darryl Shannon (Liz) of Kentucky and a special niece, Jan Mckinstry of Indiana also survive him along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a sister Janette Sims, and four brothers Arthur Laster, Hyron Laster, Myron Laster and Arvin Laster.
