On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 3:30 in the afternoon, George passed away at Beacon Memorial Hospital of South Bend; he was 77 years of age. He lived at Silver Birch of Mishawaka, Indiana
Those who cherish his many fun and loving memories include his wife, Erma Owens; three daughters, Linda (and her husband, Daryl) Gardner; Ruth and Patricia Atterberry; two sons, Vernail Atterberry and Edward (and his wife Jo’Misha) Atterberry; 12 grandchildren and one on the way; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Scales and her six children; two brothers, Robert (and his wife, Betty) Lovingood and Waverly (and his wife Sharon) Lovingood, all of South Bend; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents George was also preceded in death by a brother, John Parker; two sisters, Mary and Barbara Parker; in-laws, Robert and Willie Mae Owens and Johnny Scales; all of them were former residents of South Bend.
George was a soft spoken man with a big heart and warm and friendly smile. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Sleep on dear George and take your rest; although we all love you, God loves you best.
