Mr. George Paige, 84, departed this life and went home to be with the Lord in heaven, on Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was the eldest of six children. He was born to the union of George Sr. and Lula Page in Laurel, Mississippi.
George received his formal education in Laurel, Mississippi and accepted Christ at an early age. He became a member of St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Tate. He faithfully attended the Baptist Training Union, Sunday school, morning worship and was involved in the hot lunch program. He served faithfully as a Trustee and received several Church Commendations. He was a devoted member until his health prevented him from attending services. George made a suit look good. When you came down the aisle you couldn’t help but notice the matching suit, handkerchief and tie every Sunday.
George retired from Steel Warehouse after 44 years of service. He also served as an Usher for the University of Notre Dame for over 25 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #298.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving daughter, Marlene Scott, of South Bend, four grandchildren, Jaden Kyle, Karissha Kyle and Shaday Smythe all of Los Angeles, CA and Jermaine Kyle, Stone Mountain, GA. Two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Harmoni both of Los Angeles, CA. Three nieces Maija (Regina) Herring, Karen (Dennis) Patterson of South Bend and Wanda Johnson of Los Angeles, CA.
One nephew, Chris Page of South Bend. Three great-nephews Corwin Bevins, Jared Page both of South Bend and Kenny Johnson of Los Angeles, CA. Five great-nieces, Faren Page, Jewel Page, Brooklyn Bivins, Maija Bivins and Makayla Bivins all of South Bend, IN and a host of other relatives and friends.
George was preceded in death by both parents. His wife of 33 years, Minnie Paige, two beloved sisters, Christine Herring, Katie Zachary and three brothers, Charleston Page, Ollie Page and Hilton Paige.
