Iona Thompson passed away Saturday, January 9 at South Bend Hospice Center. She was 86 years old.
Born February 25, 1929 in Forrest City Arkansas, Iona had been a South Bend resident for more than 50 years.
She was a retiree of IUSB (housekeeping) and had also worked as an elevator operator at the LaSalle Building and was a longtime faithful member of New Testament Baptist Church.
Surviving to cherish her memory are daughter, Cassandra Harris of Tucson, AZ brother Theo Mosby of Detroit, MI, sisters Annie Matthews of Las Vegas, NV, Alice Cochran of Forrest City, AR and Florence Cotton of Phoenix, AZ. Four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive her along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Iona enjoyed traveling and spending time the little children in the family.
