James Paul Peterson Sr. was born onNovember 23rd 1942 in Stoneville Mississippi to the late James and Catherine Peterson. He departed this life on   Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 at his home in Jones, Michigan.                                       James was preceded in death by his parents, two Sisters, two brothers and a son, James Paul Peterson Jr.

James met Christ at an early  age and rededicated his life to Him under the  leadership of Apostle Christopher J. Pittman and continued in his faith until his last days.

He retired from the work force in 2007 after working for more than fifty years in various manufacturing settings.

As a testament to his fun loving personality, we remember his jokes, which he could tell like no other; ones about “beating your wives on Monday, Wednesday’s and Friday’s”, “Your Kind Face, The kind he would like to Blank in”, “his imaginary Friend Frank”, “Somebody is looking for a stranger, look what you can get for free”, and “it ain’t my fault, he was arrow con the wise one”. He would always tell you “the truth is like your hand before your face, you can lie to everybody but it’s bad when you lie to yourself”, and “be the best you can” and last but not least “Stop fooling yourself”.

James and Mary Alice Moore were married at the age of seventeen, and they were together until God took him Home.  To this union they were blessed with seven children.  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty four years, Mary Alice Peterson of Jones Michigan, three daughters, Katherine Wilson of Chicago IL, Lois Peterson Harris of South Bend Indiana and Delores (Willie) Ellison of Dowagiac Michigan; three sons, Derrick (Jackie) Gordon of Minneapolis Minnesota, Bow ‘Emanuel’ Wilson of Chicago IL and Jessy Peterson of Three Rivers Michigan. A special daughter, Nyoka Johnson of Three Rivers Michigan also survive him along with two brothers, Robert Peterson of Dowagiac Michigan, and Michael (Vicky) Peterson of Cassopolis Michigan and three sisters, Jeanette Watkins of Chicago IL, Willa Mae Sexton and Michelle Carr of Dowagiac Michigan. Nineteen grandchildren,  twenty nine great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive and are among those who loved and will miss him dearly.
