Jennifer Lynn Hines, known to her family and friends as “J-LO” was born on July 27, 1982, in Elkhart Indiana to John Bradford and the late Carrie Mae Hines. She entered her new life journey on August 27, 2024, at Methodist Hospital of Southlake Campus in Merrillville Ind. She was 42 years old.
Jennifer worked in housekeeping at Golden Living Center in Elkhart until she became ill in 2021. She was a product of the Elkhart Community School System. Jennifer enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed their company and loved standing up for them when the situation called for action. She had a straightforward personality that everyone who knew her respected. Jennifer had a way of motivating people to move in positive directions and always stood on loyalty and her truth.
There was never a dull moment with Jennifer. One of her gifts was simply making people laugh. And if you didn’t laugh, she would not mind cracking jokes on you literally until you laughed or left. Wherever there was money in the air, a card game and good vibes you could count on “J-LO” to be at the table.
Along with her father, Jennifer leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: JaWan Hines Sr, Ja’Nara Bonds and JaVeis Hines; her beloved grandson JaWan Hines Jr., all of Elkhart, IN. Sisters: Carol Bradford, Carlissa Turner, Tressa Hines, Michelle Hines, Shamika Echols, Jjkita Lenox, Jjuane Lenox. Brothers: Lemaur Johnson, Antonio Hardin Bradford, John Lenox, Kevin Gary. Godchildren: Geriana Wheeler, TaZeek Harris; special loved ones Ashanti Hines and Aisha Hines.
She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and the piece to her puzzle Brian Nolen. Five special women who provided exceptional love to Jennifer were Aunt Maggie Hill, Julie Wheeler, Denise McKnight-McCarey and best friend LeTrevia Wheeler. Proceeding her in death were her mother and two siblings, Felicia Hines and Kieth Bradford.
A visitation for Jennifer will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 12:00PM, one hour before the 1:00pm funeral service. The service will be held at Agape Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W. Wolf Street, Elkhart, IN, 46516. The service will be officiated by Dr. Rev. Dannell Brown.
