John Henry Gaines

John H. Gaines, affectionately referred to as “Johnny Money” by those who knew him, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 21, 2018 at his home. He was 66 years old.

Born November 11, 1951 in South Bend, he was a lifelong resident. He attended South Bend Community Schools and had been employed as an orderly for several years.

He married Angela Lloyd on November 11, 1989. She survives him along with his sons, Jamal Gaines, Sr. and Maharee Vann. A brother, Jake (Inez) Gaines and sisters, Mattie Warren and Gloria Lott also survive him.

John was a grandfather to five grandchildren; Miquan Cozy, Adrianna Curry, Adrian Curry, Jamarion Gaines and Jamel Gaines, Jr. and great-grandfather to Kadrian Curry, Bryana and Bryan James.

His father, Sidney H. Gaines, mother, Georgia B. Griffin, a brother, Jackie Gaines and a sister, Georgia B. Hosea preceded him in death.
