Julia M. (Bush) Lane

February 21, 1940 ~ November 25, 2016 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Julia M. Lane passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center - Mishawaka with her family by her side.
  Julia was born February 21, 1940 in Lake Village Arkansas to the late Matthew and Daisy Bush.
  She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age; upon moving to South Bend she united with Layman Chapel CME Church where she remained a faithful member until her health failed her.
  She was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie C. Lane on June 6, 1963. He preceded her in death in 1993.
  Julia was a loving, caring and compassionate person who loved her family and would help anyone who was in need. She loved to laugh and made sure she was a part of any conversation. Her life was uncomplicated and she had a really big heart.
  Julia worked for Northern Indiana Children's Hospital until they closed and she moved on to Logan Center and retired from there in 2003. Julia had a special gift for working with individuals with disabilities. She made sure they were treated with dignity and respect.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Daisy Bush, sisters, Willa M. Diggins and Ida B. Thomas; brothers, Melvin and Charles Bush and Aunts, Edna Glass and Ruby Shields.
  She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Linda (John) Hampton of Niles, MI, son Jason (Consuella) Lane of South Bend and grandchildren, John, III, Erryn, Jason, Jr., Cinsere and Nosir and great-grandchild, Tyreese.
  Also surviving her is a special niece Daisey Diggins who would cause Julia's eyes to light up at knowing that she was stopping by to do her hair or cook her favorite dish; brothers- in- law Jerry Lane of Lafayette, LA, Douglas Lane of Houston, TX, and O.D. Diggins, Sr. of South Bend; sisters -in- law Ernestine Steward of South Bend and Bobbie Coleman of Minden, LA along with special friends that she loved dearly, Bill and Alma Powell and Toni and Fran Wisnieski and a host of relatives and friends.
  Julia was a fighter and she fought to the end.
  There will be a private visitation on Tuesday, November 29 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home with committal on Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery.
