It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of LaToya Maylee Miller on August 25, 2025, from natural causes. LaToya was born to Murray Miller and Gloria Mayberry on August 29, 1976, in South Bend, Indiana. As an only child, people would tell her that she was spoiled, LaToya would laugh and say she wasn’t spoiled, her parents just loved her a whole bunch!
LaToya was a devoted mother to DeSha’Na Sims and Kenneth Taylor. The love that she shared with both of her children was unconditional, and beyond words. DeSha’Na and Kenneth will carry on their mother's legacy.
LaToya had worked in the bursar’s office at Ivy Tech for over 20 years. She was a proud graduate of Washington High School, possessed an Associate’s Degree from Davenport University, and was in the process of completing her Bachelor’s Degree from Western Governor’s University.
LaToya leaves cherished aunts and uncles; Rosia Perkins, Dr. Alice (Michael) Miller-Allen, Karen Dotson, Debra (Mari) Mattern, Robert (Angie) Grant, Patricia (Murray) Williams, Donald (Butch) Price, Dana (Lana) Price, and Annette Price.
LaToya is preceded in death by her Grandmother Hattie Grant, Granny Dortha Miller, Grandfather Odie Miller Sr., a host of Aunts and Uncles, and special cousin, Darrell “Meechie” Steele.
The family will be hosting a memorial service at a later date."
