Mary Helen Hines was born on December 8, 1938, in Mason Tennessee to Emmitt and Nellie Be (Jackson) Hines, Sr.
On August 5, 1960, in Mason she was united in marriage to James Edward Woodley for a brief time.
Mary Helen accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the choir and faithfully attended bible study and Sunday school when she was able.
She was a hard-working, strong-minded woman who dearly loved her family and friends; she enjoyed blessing everyone with her food and conversation.
Ms. Mary worked all of her life at various places. She retired from Flexible Foam of Elkhart after more than thirty years of employment.
On Friday, February 4, Mary Helen passed away at the age of 83.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Melvin L. Hines, Annette Hines and Willie Frank (Teresa) Woodley, all of Elkhart; a stepson, Randar (Sandra) Woodley of Memphis, Tennessee. Her siblings, Murdis Louise Hines, Carnetis (Alonzo) Jackson, Susie (Andrew) Williams, Albert Lee (Debra) Hines, all of Elkhart; Nellie Marie Thompson and Jessie L. (Marie) Hines; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen plus great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Mary Helen in death were her parents Emmitt and Nellie; siblings, Emmitt Jr., Charles Eddie, Willie Elmer, Stanley, Pearlie B. Terry and Karline Murry; children, Edward Sidney and Jacqueline G. and grandchildren, Sylvester O’Neal Hines and Krystal Nicole Hines Anderson and great granddaughter, Bryanna Marina Hines Branch.
Mary Helen will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
