Matthew Williams, Jr Obituary

Matthew Williams, Jr. was born February 28, 1944, in Blytheville, Arkansas the eldest of thirteen children born to Matthew and Ruthie Mae (Jackson) Williams, Sr.

He was preceded in death by his father, a sister Rebecca Williams and brothers Sylvester and Andrew Williams.

Matthew was known for his sense of humor and a guy who enjoyed fishing. He was a very fun-loving person and always had a joke to crack. He never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel wherever he went. Whether it was the grocery store or the doctor’s office. He appreciated time spent with family and loved reading and studying the Word of God. And of special note, regardless of his circumstances, in illness and in health, he never missed a phone call to his mother, who survives him at age 96.

He was a lifelong resident of Elkhart / South Bend community, the family moved here when he was a child.

Matthew was a retiree of Bayer Industries.

He is survived by his mother, Ruthie Mae Childress; sons Kevin Williams, Terry (Rose) Williams and Matthew (Demitis) Williams, lll, daughters Rita (Willie) Jackson, Pricilla Parish, Karen (Matthew) Allen and Christina (Lewis) Washington.

Also surviving him are brothers Levester Williams, Harold (Pearlie) Williams and George (Joyce) Williams and sisters Ora Lee (Henry) House, Alice Warren, Annie Ruth House of Crestview, FL, Earline (Lewis) Childress, Ollie Rae Williams, and Catherin (Cecil) Taylor of Crestview, FL.

Matthew was granddad to 24 grandchildren: great-granddad of 75 and great-great granddad to three.
