Michelle Lee Newsome

Michelle Lee Newsome, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was 45 years old. Michelle was blessed to the loving care of Nellie Newsome and Joe Reid. 

From an early age, Michelle was raised in Emanuel Church of God in Christ.  In 1986, Michelle was a participant in the Miss South Bend Black Expo pageant.  In 1988, she graduated from Riley High School of South Bend, Indiana, where she was a cheerleader.  In 1997, she graduated with honors from Michiana College as a Certified Medical Assistant with an Associates’ degree. In 2013, she received her Associates’ degree in Social Services from Ivy Tech Community College.  Michelle was a past employee of the South Bend community School Corporation where she worked at Wilson Primary Center as an Instructional Assistant. She was most recently employed with Logan Center as a Program Assistant with the Adult Care Day Program. 

Michelle lives on thru her five children, Tommy (Brittany) Newsome, Anastagia (Marion) Newsome, Ben (Brandie) Swanson, My’Kell Patton, and Quintin Patton Jr., her two sisters, Marcella Newsome and Ne’Shai Newsome, brother Jeremy Winston, her lifelong partner, Quintin Patton Sr., two granddaughters Ari’On Marsh, Ziyah Marsh, grandson, Tommy Newsome Jr. Six nieces, one nephew and loving mother figure Pamela (Newsome) Wright and close friends  Crystal Webster, Cynthia Johnson, Karen (Driver) Kennedy, Tori Williams and Marilyn Newbon-Harrell also survive to keep her memory alive along with a host of other family and friends.
