Patrick K Stokes

Patrick K. Stokes passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana on January 1, 2021. Patrick died at the age of 52.

He was born to Edward and Susan Stokes on November 17, 1968 in South Bend. Susan preceded him in death.

Patrick was raised by his grandparents, the late Charlie and Alberta Stokes, who cared for him until his young adult years. Patrick then was cared for by Dungarvin, where he resided in their residential program and was able to live independently with his roommate for many years. Pat then moved on to participate in the Structured Family Care Giving program that provided a family environment where he was loved and cared for. 

 Patrick had a way of lighting up a room with his infectious smile.  He loved to listen to music, dance, and take car rides with the window down so he could feel the wind on his face. Affectionately known as “Pat,” he taught those around him how to enjoy the simple things in life.  He loved to go to large department stores and his all-time favorite thing to do was going out to eat.  Patrick was a bright light in a sometimes dark world.

Patrick leaves to cherish his loving memory, his father, Edward Stokes; one brother Dylan Stokes, of South Bend; special aunts and uncles, Gwendolyn (Willie) Horne of Westland, Michigan, Shirley (Robert) Wilson and Wilbert Stokes, his loving guardian, LaKeisha Drake, Case Manager, Jacque Pulling, amazing SFC Caregivers, Joel and Mary Kirundi, and Larue Broadnax, Care Assistant, Malinda Smith and long-time special friend, Deb Wooten, all of South Bend and other loving family members, friends, and many who cared for Pat.
