Mr. Paul Wilbur Adams Jr., 72, was affectionately known as "Sonny" to those who knew him best. He was born in South Bend, Indiana on October 13, 1949, to the union of Rev. Paul W. Adams, Sr. and Missionary Ozettabelle Adams. He married the love of his life, Pamela Jenkins, on June 28, 1997.
Sonny grew up in Niles, MI and later moved to Cassopolis, MI where he raised his family for over twenty-seven years. He and his family relocated to Elkhart, IN in 2002.
Sonny retired from Kinro Manufacturing in 2017. He was a Slide Out Group Leader. To say that Sonny was a hard worker would be an understatement. He was very talented with his hands and could do anything he put his mind to. Sonny could come home from working a 10-hour day, unclog your sewer system, work on your vehicles, give you some great advice and still turn around and cook dinner. No matter how busy or tired he was, he made himself available to help others with their issues.
It was not uncommon to walk in Sonny’s home and see him watching his NASCAR races. His straight- forward personality was endearing and never left you wondering where he stood on his thoughts. He loved music, especially James Brown and Jazz music. He also enjoyed western movies, football, boxing and reading books. But nothing could compare to the love he had for his family. Spending time with his family is simply what Sonny loved to do.
Sonny passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Missing him terribly are his wife, Pamela Adams of Elkhart, IN; sons: Raymond Fowler of South Bend, IN, Michael Adams of Detroit, MI., Kevin (Melissa) Jenkins and Xavier Quinton Richard of Elkhart; Daughters: Keokuk Blackamore of Indianapolis, IN and Kecoria (Byron) Hylton of South Bend; Siblings: Beverly (Woody) Bradford of South Bend, Ronald (Carrie) Adams of South Carolina; Eleven Grandchildren and Sixteen Great-Grandchildren; his stepmother, Rose Adams of Niles, MI, along with cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia Jean Ramsey; a brother, Mark Allen Adams; a brother-in law, Joe Ramsey; a nephew, Charles Kemp; and a niece, Danielle McGuire.
