Rickey Dale Bonds was born on January 13, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of James and Jessie (McMillian) Bonds.
He was a lifelong resident of South Bend and had a 15-year career driving 18 wheelers (semis). He was later employed as a switchboard operator with Madison Center and more recently as an interviewer for The Arc of Indiana, helping others with life challenges.
Rickey loved basketball. He was a referee, coached AAU and even played himself with the River City Rollers, a wheelchair basketball team.
Rickey leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Phyllis; four children, Rickey Jr. (Shannon), Charles, Candace, and Travis. Six grandchildren, Alexis, Rickey lll, Charles ll, Lynsey, Riley, and Ramsey also survive him along with a brother, Terry (Pauline) Bonds, a sister, June Bonds and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
