Seifuddin Zahir El-Amin, 87, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on June 11, 2021. He was born to the late Silas and Hildegard Anderson on November 1, 1933 in Ponchatoula, LA
Seifuddin, better known as “Mr. El-Amin,” was preceded in death by his deeply loved and greatly missed wife of 44 years, Amatullah Aneesah El-Amin.
Seifuddin was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, but left home at the tender age of 13 by way of the railway to Michigan where we eventually met the love of his life.
Seifuddin was known as a family man, who worked many years, often holding two full time jobs at a time, and his own business on the weekends with his children showing them what it means to be a provider, and leader.
He worked over 20 years and retired from Notre Dame University, and he worked 15 years at the South Bend Water Works. One of his most fulfilling jobs was working at the Colfax Cultural Center where he loved being able to impart “wisdom” to everyone he met.
Seifuddin is survived by his 5 children. Nasir El-Amin, Fatimah El-Amin, Kareemah (Anthony) Emordi, Bilal El-Amin and Llyas El-Amin. Four grandsons Mateen (Tasha) Kenny, Jamaar Sutherland, Rashad Kenny and Jalil Neely. 14 great-grandchildren, and many many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at Cobb Funeral Home, Friday June 18, 2022
