Verlean (Slaughter) Underwood

 Born Verlean Slaughter on March 28, 1924 in Prichard Mississippi, Verlean Underwood passed away on August 18, 2016 in Lansing Michigan at the home of daughter, Verlean Anderson. She was 92 years old.
  She had ben a South Bend resident for more than forty years where she spent most of those years in a domestic capacity caring for her family.
  She is survived by sons, Abdul Muhammad, James Underwood, Irvin (Ann Pichon) Underwood, Leon Underwood and Jimmie Underwood, all of South Bend and daughters, Deanie Wilson of South Bend, Diamah Hasan of Detroit, MI, Ethel (Jerry) Anderson of South Bend, Alice (Stanley) Wells of Detroit, MI, Verlean (Daryl) Anderson of Lansing, MI and Joyce (Phil) Corbett of Silver Spring, MD. A sister, Louise Taylor of Lilbourn, MO also survive her along with numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
